BioChem Oss is a global biochemical company. The company produces high-quality APIs (Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients) for life-saving pharmaceutical products. The Plant Director will be full managerial and P&L responsibility for the biochemical production sites in Oss and Sioux City (USA).
In this role, you will lead and inspire the Site Leadership Team (SLT) of BioChem Oss. For Oss (Netherlands / approx. 100 FTE), the team consists of 7 SLT members with responsibilities in Finance, HR, Health & Safety, Quality, Research & Development, Business Development, Logistics and Operations. In Sioux City (USA / ca 25 FTE), the Site Manager of the production location there reports to you.
Together with these SLT members, The Plant Director ensures the optimal execution of Aspen Pharma Group’s global strategy for heparin production and related CDMO solutions. This strategy includes sourcing of raw materials, manufacturing, SHE, quality, regulatory, supply, commercial development, customer satisfaction, personnel, organizational development, budget planning and monitoring, technology, and investments. Responsible for operational performance, as expected by the group, delivering P&L results for both sites and ensuring safe and healthy operations for employees, the immediate surroundings, and the environment.
The Plant Director will maintain close relationships with internal stakeholders (Site Leadership Team and managers of all BioChem Oss departments, the Works Council, Aspen HQ, and Executive Directors) and external stakeholders (Municipality of Oss (Local) Governments, Trade Unions, Contractors and Suppliers, Media).
Besides biochemical production, Aspen Pharma Group has a chemical production organization Aspen Oss (about 600 FTE). BioChem Oss and Aspen Oss are separate organizations both part of Aspen Pharma Group. In Oss, they share site facilities and work intensively together. To ensure that joint interests are well aligned, a single reporting line to the parent company in South Africa goes by the General Manager of Aspen Oss. The Plant Director BioChem works closely with and reports to this General Manager.
The ideal candidate is a true business leader being customer-oriented with a demonstrable knowledge of and experience integrating and coordinating various management areas, including production, finance, human resources, SHE, quality, and engineering. Excellent interpersonal communication and presentation skills are essential.
For this, the candidate will preferably have:
- Minimum ten years experience in business management;
- minimum five years of senior management experience in a pharmaceutical and/or chemical manufacturing environment;
- a master’s degree in a technical or business administration direction;
- proven experience of strategy operationalization and implementation;
- business acumen in quality, operations, chemical processes, supply chain;
- fluent command of both Dutch and English, both spoken and written;
- preferably knowledge of GMP regulations.
